Pension Administration Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Payroll Specialist to oversee end-to-end payroll processing, pension administration, and HMRC compliance for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Payroll Processing
  • Manage monthly payrolls for SMB clients with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Handle RTI submissions, PAYE communications, and updates to tax codes.
  • Issue P45s, P60s, and payroll-related invoices.
  • Set up new payrolls, add employees, and track payroll fees.
  • Calculate and process SMP, SSP, SHPP, and pro-rata salaries.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employer/employee queries promptly.
Pension Administration
  • Ensure auto-enrolment compliance through setup, declarations, and re-declarations.
  • Submit monthly pension contributions to various schemes (NEST, Smart Pension, Now Pension, and People's Pension).
  • Enroll employees and register employers for pension schemes.
HMRC & Compliance
  • Liaise with HMRC regarding PAYE refunds, advanced funding applications (SMP), and CIS claims.
  • Review and reconcile PAYE balances and credits in payroll software.
  • Submit Employment Intermediary Reports and CS300 (CIS) reports.
  • Address HMRC correspondence and resolve payroll-related legislative issues.
Client Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building relationships and ensuring payroll accuracy.
  • Conduct payroll audits to maintain compliance and data integrity.
  • Handle ad-hoc payroll projects for clients.
Requirements
  • Essential: 3 years of UK Payroll experience.
  • Preferred: Professional qualification (ACCA/CA/ICMA) or equivalent.
  • Technical Proficiency: BrightPay, QuickBooks, Xero, NEST, Smart Pension, Microsoft Excel, and HMRC systems.
  • Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and client management skills.
  • Compliance Knowledge: RTI, Auto-enrolment, PAYE, CIS, and Employment Legislation.
