Program Leadership Role

The ideal candidate for this position will be a seasoned professional with expertise in program management, particularly in the legal sector. A Master's degree in Project Management or Social Science from a recognized university is required.

This role involves leading a team of lawyers and support staff to deliver strategic litigation programs. The successful candidate must have experience managing multi-faceted legal aid programs or litigation-focused initiatives.

A key responsibility of the job is to oversee people management, performance tracking, and workload balancing across the team to ensure efficient delivery and a results-oriented culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Strategy: Develop and implement case management systems and tools to track and monitor legal cases across various courts and jurisdictions.
  • Team Supervision: Lead and supervise legal teams, including lawyers, paralegals, and support staff, and provide conflict resolution and team-building skills.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage effectively with internal teams, donors, courts, government bodies, and community stakeholders, and represent the organization in high-level legal or advocacy forums.
  • Litigation Support: Provide strategic oversight for litigation-linked communications, publications, and media content, in collaboration with the Communications team.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Submit reports as required by donors, and hold regular meetings with key donors to ensure alignment and address compliance proactively.

Core Competencies:

  • Legal Expertise: Understand civil, criminal, and constitutional law, and stay updated on local legal aid frameworks and justice sector landscapes.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ethical and Rights-Based Approach: Commitment to access to justice, human rights, and legal empowerment of vulnerable populations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in Program Management, preferably in the legal sector.
  • At least 2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a legal, non-profit, or donor-funded program.
