Job Summary

The Community Outreach Hygiene Promoter plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of WASH Hygiene promotion and community mobilization activities.

This position involves working closely with the WASH team to conduct rapid needs assessments, support program design and implementation, and deliver hygiene promotion messages to communities.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of work experience in implementing hygiene promotion systems in IDPs, refugee and migrant contexts.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct household visits to assess and promote household sanitation and hygiene behaviors.
  • Sensitize communities on hygienic behavior and disseminate key messages about Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD)/Cholera through community radios.
  • Deliver hygiene promotion messages at strategic times, including during community events or religious gatherings and through once-monthly community broadcasts.
  • Engage WASH committees to identify, analyze, and suggest practical solutions to the IDP and refugee communities' WASH-related challenges.
  • Monitor the proper use, cleanliness, and maintenance of communal/shared sanitation facilities.
  • Carry out sanitary surveys around water sources to identify possible contaminants and mitigate water source pollution.
  • Distribute basic hygiene kits to vulnerable communities with the support of a WASH officer as their supervisor.
Requirements
  • Secondary school certificate
  • At least one year of work experience in implementing hygiene promotion systems in IDPs, refugee and migrant contexts.
  • Ability and understanding of the WASH sector and its software and hardware components.
  • Desired competence in using Windows and other software.
  • Ability to effectively present information (both written and verbal) and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers, field counterparts, and senior government officials.
