Procurement Specialist

The primary objective of a procurement specialist is to ensure that the organization procures goods and services in a cost-effective and timely manner.

A day in the life of a procurement specialist involves ensuring that competitive bidding rules are adhered to, which includes diligence in validating new suppliers by conducting thorough supplier visits before recommending them to senior buyers.

The key responsibilities include achieving target savings, which is 5% of addressable spend. Additionally, the procurement process must be completed inline with the competitive bidding policy for PRs ranging from 100,001 to 1,000,000 and handed over to operational buyers for conversion to PO.

Other essential tasks include identifying opportunities for consolidation, rationalization, and cooperation with strategic buyers to define future course of action. The role also requires managing supplier performance, providing guidance and support to operational buyers, and facilitating the resolution of issues.

Furthermore, it's crucial to ensure correct data reliability in the system, including short text, material group, delivery dates, payment terms, and following up and escalating operational issues with vendors.

To be successful in this role, one must have demonstrated success in delivering competitive advantage to the business through development and implementation of sourcing strategies for the spend category in charge.

Key skills required include successfully leading projects, using total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, risk management, responsible sourcing, and supplier relation management.

The ability to negotiate in cross-functional and cross-market teams is also highly valued.
