Assistant Coach for High School Girls Basketball

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to fill the position of Assistant Coach for our High School Girls Basketball team.

About the Position:

The Assistant Coach will be responsible for supporting the Head Coach in leading the team to success. This includes planning and conducting practices, developing game strategies, and mentoring players to improve their skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a mentor to each athlete to promote character development and demonstration of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  • Assist in scheduling, providing transportation to tournaments and special events.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and school employees to ensure scheduled facility times are met.
  • Provide documentation to the athletic director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
  • Ensure proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  • Serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Complete a Federal Background Check.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements:

  • Previous coaching experience in assigned sport is desirable.
  • Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation.
  • Has knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations; implements same consistently.
  • Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers to all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels.
  • Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school sports program.
  • Observes all district policies and procedures.
  • Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Physical Demands:

  • Constant lifting 5 to 20 pounds
  • Frequent lifting 20 over 50 pounds
  • Constant standing, walking
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, climbing, kneeling.
  • Occasional crawling, sitting, stooping.
