Job Description:

The Assistant Manager – Imports is responsible for assisting in planning, supervising, and monitoring all activities related to the procurement of goods, supplies, and equipment containers from international sources.

Ensures that procurement processes comply with SSGCL procurement policies and PPRA rules & regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing policies and procedures applicable to procurement, especially imports
  • Supporting the supervisor in executing procurement plans and schedules in coordination with user departments for international procurement
  • Ensuring quantity requirements and specifications meet user agreements, handling deviations or amendments with proper approvals
  • Preparing tender announcements following SSGCL policies and PPRA regulations
  • Reviewing technical and financial bid evaluations, ensuring adherence to schedules, and preparing evaluation reports
  • Coordinating contract finalization with suppliers, negotiating terms, and overseeing purchase order issuance
  • Collaborating with the Finance Department regarding foreign payments and Letters of Credit
  • Supervising real-time import tracking and effective use of digitization modules, generating accurate reports for senior management
  • Obtaining shipment statuses and coordinating clearance and delivery with relevant departments
  • Maintaining and updating supplier and vendor management databases and records for bills, bid bonds, and performance bonds
  • Ensuring proper processing of invoices and assisting in budget preparations in coordination with the Accounts Department
  • Assisting in audit queries and preparing responses with supporting documents in a timely manner
  • FOLLOWING AND PROMOTING THE ORGANIZATION'S RISK MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK, ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN RELATED ACTIVITIES

This role requires an MBA preferably in Supply Chain from an HEC-recognized university with at least 2 years of experience. Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent is an added advantage. Experience with PPRA rules and regulations is preferred.
