About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of electrical systems, proficiency in estimation software, and excellent collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Scope Analysis: Thoroughly review project documents to accurately define the electrical scope of work.
  2. Cost Calculation: Perform detailed takeoffs and calculate accurate costs associated with the electrical scope for each project.
  3. Drawing Interpretation: Provide detailed instructions on drawings regarding temporary power, service, one-line diagrams, and branch circuits.
  4. Estimate Preparation: Prepare and review estimates using third-party platforms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with bid forms.
  5. Proposal Development: Create comprehensive proposals with detailed descriptions and qualifications for each phase of electrical work.
  6. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with the Owner and Project Manager to review proposals and address any scope-related queries.
  7. Contract Review: Ensure contracts reflect correct document dates, scope of work, and qualifications.
  8. Approval and Contracting: Obtain verbal approval, Letters of Intent (LOIs), or contracts for estimated projects.
  9. KPI Development: Utilize historical data to develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for different project types and apply these metrics to ensure estimate accuracy.
  10. Third-Party Coordination: Collaborate with third-party estimators during periods of high project load.
  11. Profitability Focus: Commit to securing profitable work and contributing to long-term growth and backlog planning.
  12. Management Support: Work closely with management and operations teams to provide necessary support and ensure project success.

Requirements:

  1. Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical estimating.
  2. Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Candidates with a Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) in Electrical or Civil Engineering may also be considered, especially if they have significant field experience.
  3. Certifications: Knowledge of the USA National Electrical Code (NEC) is mandatory.

Technical Skills:

  1. Proficient in estimation software, including labor and materials databases.
  2. Strong understanding of civil, plumbing, mechanical, architectural, electrical, fire alarm, telecom, and low-voltage system drawings and specifications.
  3. Skilled in using tools like Bluebeam, Conest, Excel, Word, Dropbox, and Outlook.

Aptitudes:

  1. Ability to grow the estimating department in line with company growth.
  2. Strong organizational skills with the ability to build and improve estimating processes.
  3. Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  4. Familiarity with project management terminology from the General Contractor (GC) perspective.
  5. Ability to detail and modify electrical assemblies and understand the risks associated with installation to account for additional labor.
  6. High situational awareness and optimal time management skills.
