Information Services Deputy Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Services Deputy Manager to join our team. As a key member of our library services, you will be responsible for overseeing all matters related to the library.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage library operations, including technical processing, cataloguing, and classification.
  • Automate library tasks to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor and oversee staff duties and performance, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage stocktaking, automation, classification, and orders for new materials.
  • Oversee the library database and inventory, providing expert advice on material selection and acquisition.
  • Assist the Director in academic and managerial matters, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Procure new books, journals, magazines, and other materials to enhance our collection.
  • Provide advisory and reference services to students and newcomers, promoting lifelong learning and academic success.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for an exceptional individual with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of library and information science, and experience working with emerging technologies. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of tools and techniques used in library and information science, particularly at the university level.
  • Emerging technologies expertise, including electronic information delivery technology (online, Internet, CD-ROM, Networking/RDBMS).
  • Effective desktop publishing skills and proficiency in library-related databases.
