Empty Container Depot Operations Manager

The role of an Empty Container Depot Operations Manager involves overseeing all aspects of depot operations related to the handling, storage, and dispatch of empty containers. This position requires a proactive leader with strong understanding of logistics, container management systems, and depot infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily container yard operations to ensure efficient handling, storage, and dispatch of empty containers.
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, transport companies, and other stakeholders to manage container movements.
  • Implement and monitor standard operating procedures for container handling and storage.

Team Management:

  • Lead and supervise a team of repair technicians to achieve operational efficiency and high service levels.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance staff performance.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Inventory Control:

  • Maintain accurate records of container inventory to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify inventory accuracy and container condition.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards in depot operations.
  • Implement safety protocols and conduct regular drills and training sessions to prevent accidents.

Maintenance and Repair Operations:

  • Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of containers to ensure they meet industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize container lifespan.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration, or engineering.
  • Certifications in logistics or operations management are advantageous.
  • At least 2 years of experience in depot operations, preferably in a management role.
  • Hands-on experience with container handling, depot management systems, and coordination with shipping lines and authorities.
