Job Overview

The role of the Depot Site Manager involves leading and managing all aspects of depot operations related to container handling, storage, maintenance, and dispatch.

A proactive leader with a strong understanding of logistics, container management systems, and depot infrastructure is required to drive continuous improvement, maintain safety and environmental standards, and ensure optimal utilization of depot space and resources.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee daily operations of the container yard, ensuring efficient handling, storage, and dispatch of empty containers
  2. Coordinate with shipping lines, transport companies, and other stakeholders to manage container movements
  3. Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) for container handling and storage
  4. Lead and supervise a team of repair technicians, providing training and development opportunities for staff
  5. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback, ensuring staff are trained and adhere to safety and operational guidelines
Inventory Control and Maintenance
  1. Maintain accurate records of container inventory and conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure inventory accuracy and container condition
  2. Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of containers, ensuring all repairs meet industry standards and safety regulations
  3. Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures, conducting regular inspections to ensure quality of repairs and implementing quality control measures to maintain high standards
Safety and Compliance

Ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards, implementing safety protocols and conducting regular safety drills and training sessions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or Engineering
  • Certifications in logistics or operations management are a plus
  • Experience in logistics, depot, or terminal operations, with 2 years in a management role would be preferred
  • Hands-on experience with container handling, depot management systems, and coordination with shipping lines, authorities, local bodies
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency in depot software and MS Office
  • Knowledge of container inspection, repair standards, and safety protocols
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills
