Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join our team at National Telephone Co-op Assn. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable records, and cash disbursements.
  2. Prepare various financial statements and reports for management use, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  3. Prepare local, state, and federal tax assessment reports, including sales tax returns and property tax appeals.
  4. Perform month-end closing processes, including reconciling ledger accounts, reviewing revenue and expense accounts for coding errors, and identifying causes of large monthly income statement variances.
  5. Assist with payroll processing, including setting up new employees, calculating and filing payroll tax reports, and ensuring timely payment of employee wages and benefits.
  6. Provide financial information for regulatory reporting and monitoring company compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Part 32 requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software.
