**Job Title:** Lecturer - Optometry / Orthoptics

 

The role of a Lecturer in Optometry/Orthoptics involves teaching assigned courses, developing own teaching skills, and contributing to the planning of teaching programs. The ideal candidate should be able to employ innovative teaching strategies, facilitate experiential learning, challenge thinking, and foster debate.

 

This position also involves supervising student projects, field trips, and placements; setting, marking, and assessing work and examinations; maintaining academic records; mentoring students; and updating data in VLE and other required software.

 

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to link and inculcate Islamic and ethical values in teaching; participate in departmental and university committees; ensure that teaching content and methods are in accordance with RIU mission; and respond to issues relating to subordinates and student needs.

 

The ideal candidate for this role should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and external partners. They should also possess a strong commitment to teaching excellence, research, and service to the community.
