">About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lecturer to join our team. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students, as well as contributing to the development of academic programs.

">Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain high standards of teaching and learning by meeting annual targets assigned by the Head of Department (HOD) and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve these goals.

  2. Contribute to the planning and delivery of teaching programs, ensuring that they are aligned with faculty workload policy and meet the needs of students.

  3. Develop innovative teaching strategies and facilitate experiential learning to enhance student engagement and critical thinking skills.

  4. Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support to ensure successful outcomes.

  5. Assess and provide feedback to students on their work and examinations, maintaining accurate records of student performance.

  6. Act as a mentor to 15-20 students, guiding them in their academic and professional development.

  7. Update data in virtual learning environments (VLEs) and other required software to ensure seamless integration with academic programs.

  8. Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.

  9. Ensure that teaching content and methods align with the institution's mission and values, responding to the needs of students and staff.

  10. Monitor and supervise student attendance in classes, labs, and practical sessions, addressing any issues promptly.

  11. Pursue opportunities for research and publication, disseminating findings through appropriate media channels.

  12. Seek practical applications of research findings, driving innovation and improvement in academic programs.

  13. Lead independent research projects, acting as principal investigator and project leader, and manage teams of researchers and PhD supervisors.

  14. Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong educational background in Optometry or Orthoptics, with relevant teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, teaching, and assessment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Familiarity with virtual learning environments (VLEs) and other digital tools used in education.
