Database Administrator

This role requires a highly skilled and experienced database professional to lead by example and motivate peers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for database administration, excellent communication skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

About the Role:
  • The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting, administering, and managing multi-terabyte database systems to enable market data products and web-based platforms to function efficiently.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage key database releases across QA, Pre-Production, Production, and Disaster Recovery environments as part of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Develop and maintain support tools, run books, monitoring, and knowledge bases to aid in product support.
  • Install upgrades and patches to database servers and automate routine maintenance tasks using scripting technologies.
  • Resolve routine problems and analyze solutions using standard procedures.
  • Work with IT Server Management and other groups to resolve events, incidents, and problems per service level agreement (SLA).
  • Improve efficiency by automating routine tasks and contribute to support tools and suggest process improvements.
  • Perform database backups and refreshes in non-production environments and support virtualized environments.

Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on database administration experience.
  • ITIL V3 Foundation certification is a plus.
  • Azure/AWS/GCP certifications are a plus.
Desirable Skills:
  • Proficiency with MS SQL Server and experience with NoSQL, SOLR, Elastic Search, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with database support, administration, monitoring, and technologies like Transactional Replication, Log Shipping, Mirroring, AlwaysOn, and Windows Clustering.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell or other languages.
  • Strong communication skills and troubleshooting abilities involving client libraries, OS, network, and storage.
