Financial Controller Job Description

About the role: We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations for our retail stores and gas stations.

This is an essential role that requires ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic decision support across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory, and revenue recognition.
  2. Analyze and prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  3. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  4. Ensure compliance with legal requirements, including tax laws and environmental regulations.
  5. Develop internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain financial integrity.
  6. Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
  7. Collaborate with store and station managers on inventory and cost controls.
  8. C coordinate audits and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.
  9. Implement financial systems to improve automation and reporting.
  10. Provide financial insights to support business growth and profitability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • At least 7 years of experience, with at least 3 years in leadership roles.
  • Experience in retail, convenience store, or fuel station operations is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage).
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple locations and teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with fuel tax filings, inventory shrink analysis, POS systems.
  • Knowledge of environmental and fuel compliance reporting.
  • Experience integrating financial systems during expansions or acquisitions.

Job Details:

  • Experience: 7+ Years
  • Work Timings: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Work Days: Monday - Friday
