Job Overview

This role is for a Transgender Rights Advocate who will be responsible for coordinating provincial-level flood response efforts, ensuring the inclusion of transgender individuals in relief and rehabilitation activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sociology, public policy, or a relevant field, with 5-8 years of experience in working on transgender rights issues. They will possess excellent networking skills, ability to develop partnerships with stakeholders, and expertise in building alliances and collaborations with civil society organizations.

The Transgender Rights Advocate will be responsible for implementing communication and advocacy strategies to promote transgender inclusion in flood relief and response efforts. They will work closely with national and international humanitarian actors, government departments, and community leaders to ensure that the needs of transgender individuals are addressed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate provincial-level flood response efforts, ensuring the inclusion of transgender individuals in relief and rehabilitation activities.
  • Develop and implement communication and advocacy strategies to promote transgender inclusion in flood relief and response efforts.
  • Work closely with national and international humanitarian actors, government departments, and community leaders to ensure that the needs of transgender individuals are addressed.
  • Conduct meetings with stakeholders to coordinate and advocate for transgender inclusion in flood relief and response efforts.
  • Organize focus group discussions with rights activists, transgender rights experts, policymakers, and humanitarian organizations to review documents and frameworks and identify gaps in existing policy frameworks.
  • Document proceedings and minutes of meetings and focus group discussions and distill recommendations to be fed into deliberations of the National Taskforce.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in sociology, public policy, or a relevant field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in working on transgender rights issues.
  • Excellent networking skills, ability to develop partnerships with stakeholders, and expertise in building alliances and collaborations with civil society organizations.
  • Strong background in program management, including developing human rights frameworks and strategies, policy advocacy, and lobbying.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and maintain superior levels of professionalism.
  • Fluency in English and Urdu language and excellent writing skills.
