Drilling Operations Manager

Summary:

This role involves leading teams to manage the planning, design, and execution of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations for gas transmission pipeline projects. As a highly experienced Senior HDD Operations Engineer, you will apply your knowledge of project specifications, site conditions, and environmental factors to optimize drilling strategies and alignments.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for HDD crossing operations, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster effective collaboration between teams to develop detailed HDD crossing plans, including bore profiles, drilling parameters, equipment selection, and risk assessments.
  • Site Investigation: Conduct thorough site investigations to assess ground conditions, identify potential obstacles or hazards, and inform the design and layout of HDD alignments.
  • Evaluation and Approval: Evaluate contractor proposals, bids, and technical submissions for HDD equipment, materials, and services, ensuring compliance with project specifications and performance requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Coordinate with regulatory agencies, landowners, and related stakeholders to obtain necessary permits, clearances, and approvals for HDD crossing activities, facilitating timely project execution.
  • Field Supervision: Oversee HDD drilling operations in the field, conducting regular site visits and inspections to verify adherence to approved plans, safety protocols, and environmental mitigation measures.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of HDD crossing activities, including as-built drawings, bore logs, drilling records, and quality control reports, to support project documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and track project budgets, schedules, and resources for HDD crossing operations, ensuring timely completion and minimal disruptions.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize project delays and disruptions, working closely with project stakeholders.
  • Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential hazards and challenges associated with HDD crossing projects.
  • Communication: Collaborate with project stakeholders to communicate project status, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project requirements and expectations.
