Job Title

A dedicated professional is sought to fill the position of Education Welfare Officer in our organization.

The selected candidate will be responsible for undertaking various duties and responsibilities within the Education Welfare Service, specifically those related to children of compulsory school age.

The key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • To undertake statutory duties and responsibilities placed within the Education Welfare Service that relates to children of compulsory school age.
  • Collecting data on underprivileged families highlighted by our organization.
  • Maintaining confidential records of support for all students referred.
  • Ensuring all children of compulsory school age are in receipt of education.
  • Providing assistance to children to return to full-time education where they may have additional needs and attendance issues.

Additionally, the successful candidate will work directly with schools to provide guidance on reducing school absence and initiating strict action on persistent absent pupils. They will also conduct regular supervisory visits to schools and collect monthly data on students' progress.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children. To achieve this, they must possess strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to form good working relationships with a range of internal and external colleagues.

Requirements
  • Experience in a similar role working with both schools and other services within an education setting or similar.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to form good working relationships with a range of internal and external colleagues.
  • Familiarity with the surrounding area and the best possible method of traveling.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences with vocational training and certifications.
  • Three years of experience working in an inner-city school or educational establishment.
  • Experience working with challenging students and parents, and finding ways in which we can meet their needs more successfully.
  • Self-transportation capabilities.
