Job Title: Junior Database Administrator

We are seeking a skilled professional to serve as a Junior Database Administrator, focusing on enhancing database efficiency and availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Configure databases for optimal performance and collaborate with the development team to optimize database use from the application perspective, including query profiling, table indexing, and file layout.
  • Perform performance tuning and optimization based on gathered statistics, such as rewriting poor queries, rebuilding indices, and database cleanups.
  • Set up and manage replication topologies for high availability.
  • Manage database security by granting/revoking permissions, ensuring security practices, and auditing access rights to prevent unauthorized access and ensure compliance.
  • Design, implement, and test disaster recovery scenarios to minimize Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and meet Recovery Point Objective (RPO) goals.
  • Ensure current and reliable database backups for all production databases.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and assist with application issues.
  • Support system development life cycle activities, including application deployment and support functions.
  • Organize large-scale complex database projects into manageable activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems.
  • At least 1 year of experience in database administration.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL programming, including writing functions, procedures, and complex queries.
  • Knowledge of database clustering technologies such as AlwaysOn, failover clusters, mirroring, and log shipping.
  • Understanding of data conversion technologies.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills, experience with profiling tools.
  • Proactive, self-starting attitude with project management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of optimizing DBMS for functionality, reliability, supportability, scalability, normalization, and referential integrity.
