Job Description

The ideal candidate for this Payroll Operations role will be responsible for compiling, analyzing and documenting issues related to payroll and associated activities.

This includes research into inconsistencies and irregularities in the payroll process, as well as working with cross-functional teams to resolve these issues.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain expertise in payroll procedures and provide support to employees with payroll-related inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Activities:
    • Entering and reviewing timecard data in Workday Time Tracking.
    • Adjusting time entries, pay inputs, or payroll costing allocations.
    • Calculating pay for union employees according to collective bargaining agreements, and all employees according to company policy and legislative requirements.
  • Research and Resolution:
    • Researching payroll inconsistencies and irregularities to determine root cause and provide resolution.
    • Working with cross-functional counterparts to understand and resolve issues.
  • Expertise and Collaboration:
    • Becoming a payroll subject matter expert to resolve employee issues swiftly and efficiently.
    • Proactively communicating and collaborating with process partners and/or other points of escalation to provide research and information to resolve issues.
  • Internal Control and Reporting:
    • FOLLOWING AND MAINTAINING INTERNAL CONTROL POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND COMPLIANCE WITH RESPECT TO THE PAYROLL PROCESS.
    • Ability to understand and evaluate reports utilizing Excel functionality (vlookups, index match, pivot tables).
  • Testing and Support:
    • Participating in testing of payroll system related to process changes and enhancements.
    • Supporting leadership with other projects and tasks as required.
