Our organization is seeking a skilled Junior Trade Associate to join our team in Islamabad, Pakistan. The successful candidate will be part of the REMIT Programme, which aims to strengthen macroeconomic stability and improve conditions for high and sustained growth, mutual prosperity, job creation, and poverty reduction.

The Junior Trade Associate will support the team in the monitoring, evaluation, and implementation of National Tariff Policy 2025-30. Key responsibilities include conducting impact analysis of tariff reforms on imports, exports, domestic production, domestic industry, prices, productivity, and FBR revenue from trade taxes and domestic taxes. Additionally, the candidate will devise a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to assess the impact of tariff reforms and conduct industrial visits and stakeholder consultations.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should possess a Master's degree in Economics or Business Administration from a reputable university. A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in tariff and trade-related subjects is required, with a focus on tariff rationalization, industrial policy, national and international trade and investment rules, laws, and policies, WTO-compliant trade remedies, economic, and financial policies of the Government of Pakistan.

The successful candidate will have excellent research, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office, statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata), and trade simulation tools (e.g., WITS) is essential. In addition, the ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Economics or Business Administration from a reputable university.
  • 5-7 years' experience of working in tariff and trade related subjects with focus on Tariff Rationalization, Industrial Policy, National & International Trade & Investment Rules, laws and Policies, WTO compliant Trade Remedies, Economic and Financial Policies of the Government of Pakistan.
  • Experience in conducting research, industrial surveys, seminars/workshops on trade and tariff related issues.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, statistical tools i.e. SPSS, Stata, trade simulation tools i.e. WITS etc.
