Job Title: Financial Project Specialist

Position Purpose:

The financial project specialist supports the management, reporting and budgeting functions of sponsored research projects. This involves maintaining accurate grant-related data, preparing financial reports, assisting with grant budget uploads and modifications, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and coordinating with internal departments for payroll, HR and procurement transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing new grants according to donor guidelines.
  • Coordinate with finance to assign new internal orders and with IST to create and assign purchase groups for new release strategies.
  • Support HR approvals for hiring on internal and external grants by reviewing recommendation forms and processing payroll.
  • Maintain and update derivation rules for new and existing grants.
  • Provide support to resolve SAP-related errors and ensure proper mapping of sponsored classes for payroll allocations.
  • Coordinate monthly payroll activities for approved personnel and update derivation rules accordingly.
  • Process bridge finance requests and track unadjusted amounts, keeping PIs, Deans and VC office updated.
  • Assist in grant extensions, closures and transfers, ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Manage financial aspects of grants funded by external donors, including preparing budgetary reports.

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with SAP S4 Hana GM Module.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Budgeting experience.
  • Experience preparing financial reports of grants.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities.
  • Advance MS Excel skills.

Education and Experience:

  • ACCA or Master's degree in Accounting or Management Studies.
  • 3-4 years of post-qualification experience.
