Job Description - IT Manager

To effectively manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the IT function.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Ensure Maximum System Availability: Guarantee the optimal functioning of computer systems throughout the organization, ensuring high uptime and minimal downtime.
  2. EITV Device Management: Commission and decommission EITV devices as required to maintain efficiency and optimize resources.
  3. Provision of IT Infrastructure Services: Provide desktop applications, local and/or wide area networks, IT security, and telecommunications services to support business operations.
  4. Development and Implementation of New Systems: Design and implement innovative IT solutions that meet business needs and improve overall efficiency.
  5. Collaboration with Senior Management: Work closely with senior management to propose, agree, and deliver IT services that meet defined Service Level Agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  6. Management of IT Department: Oversee the IT department, including staff appraisals, disciplinary actions, pay reviews, and career development to ensure a high-performing team.
  7. Procurement of IT Hardware, Software, and Maintenance: Responsible for acquiring IT hardware, software, and maintenance services to support IT operations.
  8. Disaster Recovery Plan: Develop and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan to minimize the impact of potential disruptions.
  9. IT Security Policy: Develop and enforce the IT security policy to protect against cyber threats and ensure data integrity.
  10. Company Website Maintenance: Ensure the company website is up-to-date and functioning correctly, reflecting positively on the organization.
  11. Monthly Reporting: Provide regular written reports to senior management on all aspects of the IT department, facilitating informed decision-making.

Skill Requirements:

  1. IT Department Management Experience: Proven experience in managing an IT department is essential for this role.
  2. IT Infrastructure Planning and Development: Experience in planning and developing IT infrastructure is crucial to drive business growth.
  3. Team Leadership Skills: Strong team leadership skills are necessary to lead and motivate the IT team.
  4. Prioritization and Task Execution: Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environments is critical.
  5. EITV Device Management: Experience with commissioning and decommissioning EITV devices is a plus.
  6. Shipping/Logistic Company Experience: Preference given to candidates with experience working with shipping/logistic companies, particularly those familiar with Afghan transit operations.
