Dispenser

The Dispenser is a crucial member of the medical team, responsible for storing, dispensing prescribed medication, and maintaining accurate records. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently. The Dispenser reports to a team leader or head of the department, as assigned by the country team.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Dispense prescribed medicines, maintain stocks, and record daily/weekly/monthly usage based on provided formats.
  2. Adhere strictly to prescriptions when dispensing medicine.
  3. Counsel patients thoroughly on medicine use, including time/frequency, route, precautions, expected side effects, and completion of treatment course.
  4. Properly label medicine according to global standards.
  5. Ensure patients receive full courses of treatment.
  6. In collaboration with pharmacists, ensure continuous availability of medicine, prevent stockouts, and request timely replenishments from warehouses.
  7. Maintain optimal storage temperatures for medicine at all times.
  8. Accurately register and record patient information within provided registers.
  9. Follow administrative directives regarding work schedules, record-keeping, patient communications, re-stocking of essential drugs, consumables, and other medical supplies.
  10. Update bin cards daily.
  11. Maintain consumption records and share them with relevant program staff.
  12. Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure seamless implementation and integration of services.


Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Qualified and registered dispenser from a recognized nursing institute with a valid license to practice or equivalent qualification acceptable in the country.
  2. Previous experience in the same capacity will be advantageous.
  3. Previous NGO experience preferred.
  4. Excellent communication and public dealing skills while performing duties in public healthcare service.
  5. Familiarity with medicines utilization and dosages.
  6. Good English reading and writing skills.
