Job Description

The Quality Control Lead is responsible for developing and directing the implementation of analytical quality systems, processes, and records. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and works with site management to make these systems consistent, practical, and cost-effective.

This position will oversee a team of 5 and be responsible for ensuring product quality through technical expertise, knowledge of the corn wet milling business, and understanding of company goals. The Quality Control Lead will work closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, and customers to meet quality expectations.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading the QC team to produce precise, accurate, and timely test and calibration data;
  • Maintaining accurate and functional quality records on QC expectations for plant personnel;
  • Ensuring that non-routine testing is performed in a timely manner;
  • Conducting Out of Specification investigations and maintaining records and monitoring OOS trends;
  • Driving continuous improvements by applying scientific methodology, root cause analysis, and statistical tools;
  • Developing and implementing new QC procedures as needed;
  • Reviewing, revising, and improving existing systems on a periodic basis.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Food Technology, or a related field;
  • 8 years' experience in the Food or Pharma industry with experience within chemical laboratory settings;
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Strong leadership abilities to lead others in a challenging environment;
  • Proactive, creative, and strong will to succeed;
  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills and knowledge of good laboratory practices;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment, build consensus, and foster relationships at multiple organizational levels and across functions.
