Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

About the Role:

Motive is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our team of software engineers. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing a technology vision, managing product and business outcomes, and creating a long-term product roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a technology vision for building new product features focusing on fleet & driver safety.
  • Manage product and business outcomes of engineering teams.
  • Create a long-term product roadmap with product teams.
  • Lead technical design discussions with Frontend, Product, Design, Computer Vision, and Data Science teams.
  • Drive execution, launch, and daily operations of functionalities for internal/external customers at high quality, introducing cutting-edge development processes.
  • Develop best practices and coding standards.
  • Hire, manage, and develop a diverse team of highly qualified engineers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related domains.
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience.
  • Experience working with high-throughput and low-latency systems.
  • Technical depth and breadth in agile product development, distributed systems, infrastructure, cloud computing, build tools, front-end engineering, mobile, QA.
  • Ability to perform architectural work and define requirements based on business issues.
  • Proven track record as a proactive thinker and doer, who thrives in an environment demanding excellence.
  • A comfort level with short release cycles, owning the full software lifecycle, and deep experience working on a product for public consumption.
  • Passion for continuous experimentation and learning, coupled with a desire to improve performance.
  • Demonstrated success in hiring, managing, motivating, and promoting skilled engineers.
  • An understanding of what makes a strong, healthy, and productive engineering culture.
  • A track record as a strong individual contributor earlier in your career, with continued interest in contributing through coding when needed.
