Environmental Health and Education Manager Job Description:

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health and Education Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing health and environmental education programs in partner schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • To undertake the terms of reference for the implementation of health and environmental education programs in partner schools.
  • To understand and implement the health and environment strategy for our programs and projects.
  • To perform a health and environmental needs assessment for new partner schools.
  • To ensure access to relevant materials to stay updated on the latest trends in climate change, education for sustainable development, and health action schools.
  • To hold meetings with mothers and the community for health awareness and health education.
  • To monitor the school environment and propose strategies for active citizenship.
  • To set up systems of maintenance of health records of the school children.
  • To train teachers on health and environment issues and integrate them into school activities.
  • To provide site-based support to teachers in different projects.
  • To maintain and update health files.
  • To develop, implement, and monitor health tools in partner schools.
  • To assist the cluster coordinator/education promoter in their activities.
  • To facilitate the Whole School Improvement Program and its key activities with other team members.
  • To develop health and environmental curriculum and relevant activities.
  • To participate in all enrichment activities including health clubs, summer camps, and festivals.
  • To support non-formal and literacy programs.
  • To document activities under the Health and Environmental Education Program and contributions to our newsletter.
  • To update and maintain teachers' resource corner.

  • Leadership skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Candidate should be presentable and proactive.
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team. They should also be proactive and able to think creatively to solve problems. A strong understanding of health and environmental issues is essential, as is the ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions. Experience working in an educational setting would be beneficial, as would knowledge of IT and software applications used in similar roles.
