Job Overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support to field teams in implementing mental health and psychosocial support activities.

This includes organizing program activities, ensuring the work of MHPSS case management staff is executed effectively, and providing services as needed.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee and organize the work of MHPSS case management staff, including case managers, roving social workers, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists working in the field.
  • Fully engage in the recruitment process for IMC MHPSS field staff.
  • Prepare and oversee the implementation of work schedules, validated by all relevant parties, and ensure commitment to these schedules.
  • Evaluate logistics needs, such as transportation, planning, etc.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with MHPSS staff, primarily case managers.
  • Monitor daily program implementation through written reports and data collection sheets.
  • Represent the MHPSS Department in interagency and local coordination meetings on MH and PSS-related issues.
  • Organize and attend MH case management technical meetings.
  • Regularly visit PHCCs/centers supported by IMC to maintain good relationships with partners and monitor work.
  • In coordination with the MHPSS pharmacist at IMC, ensure psychotropic measures are implemented correctly (consumption, reporting, monitoring storage, availability for beneficiaries).
  • Assess mental health needs in the area.
  • Lead new initiatives and conduct necessary assessments within the area of operation, aligning with the MHPSS country strategy.
  • Become familiar with all IMC MHPSS programs and service packages.
Performance Metrics
  • Ensure MHPSS activities and trainings run according to protocol and program objectives.
  • Verify that planned activities align with project indicators, objectives, and timeline.
  • Implement measuring tools to assess success based on program indicators.
  • Report daily on important issues requiring supervisor feedback and decision-making.
  • Assist in developing M&E tools and mechanisms.
  • Regularly implement and utilize M&E tools and mechanisms.
Capacity Development
  • Identify capacity development needs for MHPSS case management staff members.
  • Assist in developing a training plan for the MHPSS case management team.
  • Follow up on training implementation, prepare schedules, and ensure requirements are met.
  • Document trainings, fill attendance sheets, pre-post tests, and submit training reports.
  • Participate in training, supervision, and team meetings; serve as the main mental health focal point for IMC in the designated area.
Reporting Requirements
  • Track client numbers/cases through IMC outpatient records and submit monthly reports.
  • Conduct regular visits to PHCs/centers supported by IMC to monitor work and ensure communication flow with partners.
  • Collect data from MHPSS Case Management teams on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly);
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for information flow and legal purposes;
  • Conduct file audits and submit monthly tracking reports to the MHPSS case management support manager.
  • Provide technical oversight on case management services, following MHPSS standards of practice, for services provided at MHPSS-supported clinics and PSS activities conducted by the team.
  • Document meetings held in the area of work.
  • Submit regular reports (weekly, monthly) to the MEAL team and MHPSS program Coordinator.
