Job Overview

The WASH Technical Supervisor will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions in refugee camps, schools, and host communities affected by conflict and natural disasters.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct needs assessments, beneficiary mapping, and site identification for WASH interventions in refugee camps, schools, and host communities.
  • Carry out technical surveys and feasibility studies for rehabilitation and construction of WASH facilities (latrines, handwashing stations, water supply systems, etc.).
  • Develop designs, technical drawings, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs) using AutoCAD/engineering software for WASH infrastructure.
  • Supervise the rehabilitation and construction of water and sanitation facilities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, SPHERE standards, and donor requirements.
  • Ensure integration of WASH activities with health and emergency response programs, including hygiene promotion during cash/voucher distributions and health awareness campaigns.

The ideal candidate should have a degree in Civil Engineering and at least 3-5 years of proven experience in WASH projects in humanitarian or emergency contexts.

They should be proficient in AutoCAD and engineering design software, have strong knowledge of SPHERE standards, ECHO guidelines, and emergency WASH responses, and possess strong training and facilitation skills for community-based WASH programs.

Key Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience in WASH projects in humanitarian or emergency contexts.
  • Previous work in conflict or natural disaster response settings is strongly preferred.

This is a challenging role that requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to humanitarian principles. The selected candidate will work under pressure, in remote and challenging environments, and must be able to deliver quality results within deadlines.
