Environmental Policy Analyst

A pivotal role in environmental conservation and sustainability. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of policies that protect biodiversity and promote eco-friendly practices.

About the Role

The Environmental Policy Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to analyze existing policies and identify areas for improvement. They will develop and implement new policies that align with national and international regulations, ensuring a harmonious balance between economic growth and environmental protection.

  • Lead the production of the Policy and Institutional Review (PIR)
  • Provide initial inputs to start the development of the Biodiversity Finance Plan
  • Assess and describe significant biodiversity-related policies and legal frameworks
  • Identify existing finance solutions relevant to biodiversity finance
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Supporting the Project Lead in conceiving and preparing the PIR
  2. Planning and implementing the PIR step of the BIOFIN methodology at the CO level
  3. Identifying relevant stakeholders to inform and participate in BIOFIN methodology and NBSAP support
  4. Stock-taking and analyzing relevant biodiversity-related policy instruments and studies
  5. Developing an inventory of existing Biodiversity Financing Mechanisms for Pakistan
  6. Reviewing existing economic valuation studies relevant to the BIOFIN process
  7. Reviewing the legal framework relevant to the BIOFIN process

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • An advanced degree (master's or equivalent) in Public Policy or Economic Policy with an Environment/Biodiversity/Economic focus
  • Or a first-level university degree (bachelor's degree) in the same areas in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience
  • Professional experience in environmental policy and biodiversity-related projects
  • Experience in collaborating with international and national experts and institutions
  • Knowledge of key software packages (MS Office), quantum and PIMS+
Language Requirements

The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Urdu language.
