Public Relations Strategist

Overview

This role involves developing and executing a communications strategy to grow our national visibility and advance our advocacy priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a comprehensive communications plan, including messaging and briefs, to enhance our presence in the media and promote our cause.
  • Set clear communications goals and utilize media monitoring and social analytics tools to track progress and measure success.
  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and other key stakeholders to secure coverage and promote our message.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure alignment across all communications channels and adapt content for various audiences.
Media Relations and External Communications
  • Lead media engagement efforts, including press releases, media briefings, and op-eds, to promote our work and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Develop crisis communications and reputation management strategies to maintain a positive public image.
  • Maintain a robust media monitoring program to track our presence in the national and international press.
Organizational Culture
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity within the organization.
  • Actively contribute to making the workplace a welcoming and respectful environment for all employees.
Requirements
  • Seven to ten years of experience in building and executing communications strategies.
  • A strong network of active media relationships.
  • Success in pitching stories to journalists and media outlets globally.
  • Exceptional editorial and creative copywriting skills, with experience in writing speeches, press releases, and talking points.
