In 2014, a joint venture between iMENA Group and Rocket Internet was created to address the issues of fragmentation and inefficiency that were facing the Jordanian and Saudi taxi markets. Job Description:

We are looking for motivated recent graduates with a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field to join our development team. As a Junior Software Engineer, you will work on designing, developing, and maintaining applications for Android, iOS, or Backend systems using Java Spring Boot. This role is ideal for individuals who have a foundational understanding of software engineering principles and are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test software applications for Android, iOS, or Backend systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
• Assist in debugging and resolving technical issues in applications.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new features under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and apply them to improve development processes.
• Document technical specifications and development processes as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor/Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Fundamental understanding of core computer science concepts, including:
• Data Structures and Algorithms
• Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Database Management Systems
• Operating System

Basic knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

• Android Development: Familiarity with Java or Kotlin, Android Studio, and Android SDK.
• iOS Development: Familiarity with Swift, Xcode, and iOS frameworks.
• Backend Development: Basic understanding of Java Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience through academic projects, internships, or personal projects in Android, iOS, or Backend development.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) or microservices architecture is a plus.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio showcasing relevant work.
