Overview:

Manage, investigate, and resolve chargeback disputes. Play a crucial role in protecting revenue and brand reputation. Protect the company's revenue, managing incoming transaction disputes, investigating root causes, preparing compelling evidence for rebuttals, and collaborating with teams to reduce future chargeback exposure. Proactively reduce dispute volume through process improvements and collaboration across departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate incoming chargeback claims and determine appropriate response strategies
  • Prepare and submit compelling evidence to dispute invalid chargebacks
  • Monitor chargeback trends and KPIs; report on root causes and emerging risks
  • Monitor chargeback rates and dispute win/loss ratios by payment processor
  • Utilize tools such as Chargeback Alerts, Order Insight, Ethoca, and Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR)
  • Stay up to date with card network rules (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) and ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Product, and Fulfillment teams to identify and address chargeback triggers
  • Provide feedback on process improvements to reduce chargeback frequency
  • Implementing chargeback alerts, RDR, and automation tools to prevent future disputes
  • Recommend updates to policies or checkout experience to reduce confusion and fraud triggers
Must have:
  • 1–2 years of experience in chargeback management, risk analysis, payments, or fraud prevention
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and documentation skills
  • Excellent written communication for composing professional dispute responses
  • Familiarity with chargeback reason codes and industry tools.
  • Knowledge of card network rules and dispute resolution timelines
  • Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and CRM or payment platforms
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
Good to have:
  • Experience working in eCommerce.
  • Knowledge of friendly fraud patterns and mitigation techniques
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Shopify, or payment gateways like Stripe, payfast, and Xstack. 
  • Chargeback or fraud-related certifications (optional but valued)
