Job Description:

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Pre-Authorization & Eligibility Verification Specialist to join our growing team. In this crucial role, you will be the first line of defense in the revenue cycle, ensuring that patients' insurance coverage is verified and necessary treatment pre-authorizations are secured in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for various medical services using online portals and phone verification.
  • Obtain pre-authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals from insurance companies for scheduled procedures, surgeries, and diagnostic tests.
  • Accurately document all verification and authorization details in the practice management system.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance payers, physicians, and internal teams to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Identify and understand different insurance plan types and their requirements for authorization.
  • Manage and follow up on pending authorizations and denials, initiating appeals when necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity while adhering to strict deadlines.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience in medical pre-authorization and/or insurance eligibility verification in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with US medical insurance (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid) and standard industry terminology (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
  • Proficiency in using insurance verification portals and Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Practice Management (PM) software.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Must be comfortable working the night shift (Monday to Friday, 6:00 PM - 3:00 AM).
