About The Role
The Billing Manager at PsychPlus will lead the financial operations of our billing department, ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient processing of claims and payments. This role is vital to ensuring that our providers, facilities, and patients experience a seamless billing process. You will manage a team of billing specialists, oversee claim submissions, follow up on denials, monitor key performance metrics, and work closely with clinical and administrative leadership to improve revenue cycle efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and manage the billing department to ensure timely and accurate claim submissions.
- Oversee the entire revenue cycle process, from patient intake to final payment, including insurance verification, charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and denial management.
- Monitor daily billing operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations.
- Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to address coding errors, documentation gaps, and claims-related issues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated billing questions from patients, payers, and internal teams.
- Implement process improvements to reduce claim denials and improve days in accounts receivable (AR).
- Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA and other applicable laws.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in medical billing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, along with payer rules and regulations.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health billing processes, including telehealth and in-person services.
- Proven track record of improving revenue cycle performance and reducing AR days.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in EHR and billing systems, preferably in mental health or multi-site healthcare organizations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment and adapt to evolving priorities.
Additional Information
The expected base pay for this role will be between $1000 to $1400 USD per month at the commencement of employment. However, base pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location and years of experience. Further, base pay is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Psychplus Health-sponsored benefits.
