Role Overview

The Internal Auditor supports the Finance Department in safeguarding financial integrity, reinforcing internal controls, and ensuring compliance across restaurant operations. You will perform financial, operational, and compliance audits and support functions to assess risk, identify inefficiencies, and drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial, operational, compliance, and inventory audits across various outlets and central logistics.
  • Perform surprise on-site visits and branch checks (e.g. stock counts, expiry monitoring, cash handling, POS reconciliation).
  • Review adherence to SOPs, food costing protocols, inventory cycle counts, procurement, and supplier invoice procedures.
  • Investigate instances of fraud, misappropriation, or procedural non-compliance, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare concise audit reports that outline control weaknesses, risk exposure, root causes, and actionable remediation.
  • Assist in strengthening the internal audit framework, charter, and methodologies following IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) standards adapted to the restaurant sector.
  • Maintain audit working papers, documentation logs, and evidence in a clear, reviewable format.

Qualifications

  • CA, ACCA, or CMA (qualified or part-qualified)
  • 1-3 years of hands-on internal audit experience, ideally in restaurant, retail, or FMCG environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, POS systems, and risk management principles
  • Excellent analytical thinking, keen attention to detail, and ability to interpret financial data and operational processes.
  • Strong written communication and report writing, along with ability to present findings to senior management.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Prior involvement in fraud investigations, root-cause analysis, or control remediation projects.
  • Ability to design process flowcharts, control matrices, and audit frameworks for operational reviews.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of working with cross-functional teams to drive improvement and compliance.
