Job Summary:

We are seeking a
Virtual Medical Assistant (VMA)
with expertise in
Prior Authorization
to support healthcare providers in managing clinical and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in US healthcare processes, medical documentation, and insurance workflows. A
Pharm-D (Doctor of Pharmacy)
degree is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle
    prior authorization requests
    for medications, diagnostics, and medical procedures.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage
    and benefits before processing authorizations.
  • Review
    medical charts, prescriptions, and progress notes
    to assess clinical eligibility.
  • Communicate with
    insurance companies, providers, and pharmacies
    to ensure timely authorization approvals.
  • Document and maintain accurate patient information in EMR/EHR systems.
  • Follow up on
    denied or pending authorizations
    , providing required documentation for resubmission.
  • Ensure all activities comply with
    HIPAA
    and organizational confidentiality standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with payer policies, medical coding (CPT, ICD, HCPCS), and authorization procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
    Pharm-D or equivalent healthcare-related degree (preferred).
  • Experience:
    1–3 years of experience in Virtual Medical Assistance, Prior Authorization, or RCM.
  • Strong knowledge of
    US healthcare processes
    .
  • Proficiency in using
    EHR/EMR systems
    (Athena, eClinicalWorks, AdvancedMD, etc.).
  • Excellent
    verbal and written communication skills
    (English).
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Proficient in
    MS Office
    and general virtual communication tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.).

  • Experience with
    US insurance verification
    and
    authorization portals
    .
  • Knowledge of
    pharmacy benefits management
    and
    formulary review
    .
  • Familiarity with
    medical billing and coding basics
    .
