Sr. DevOps and Security Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. DevOps & Security Engineer with 5+ years of experience to lead the design, automation and security of our hybrid infrastructure. This role requires expertise in managing local data center environments (VMware vCenter/ESXi, firewalls, routers, and switches) as well as AWS production cloud environments. The successful candidate will architect and implement highly available, secure and scalable systems, while driving automation and DevSecOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cloud & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

2. Architect and manage AWS cloud infrastructure for production workloads.

3. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible and Puppet for repeatable and automated provisioning.
4. Integrate automation scripts for VM provisioning, configuration management and lifecycle management.
5. Manage LDAP/Active Directory integration for centralized access control.

2. CI/CD & Automation

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins (primary), GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or ArgoCD.
• Automate build, test and deployment pipelines for staging and UAT environments.
• Implement GitOps practices and integrate automated security, compliance and quality checks.
• Standardize release processes for faster and more reliable deployments.

3. Security & Cyber Defense

• Manage IAM, RBAC and secrets management tools (HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, 1Password, etc.).
• Perform infrastructure hardening, firewall rule management and SSL/TLS certificate management.
• Protect against DoS/DDoS attacks and implement WAF (Web Application Firewall) policies.
• Conduct vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and remediation planning.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR, and PCI-DSS standards.

4. Infrastructure & Data Center Management

• Manage local data center infrastructure including vCenter/ESXi clusters, storage, firewalls, routers and switches.
• Design and implement high availability, load balancing and failover strategies across on-premise and cloud environments.
• Optimize infrastructure performance and ensure capacity planning for staging, UAT and production.
• Maintain OS patching, kernel upgrades and operating system hardening.

5. Monitoring, Incident Response & DR

• Set up monitoring, logging and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog).
• Establish incident response procedures, escalation policies and postmortem analysis.
• Develop backup and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for both local and cloud infrastructure.
• Ensure observability for applications, APIs and network infrastructure.

6. Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate with developers, QA, security and IT teams to ensure reliable and secure software delivery.
• Mentor junior DevOps and security engineers.
• Advocate best practices in automation, scalability and cybersecurity.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of DevOps/SRE experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior/lead role.
• Proven experience with VMware vCenter/ESXi, firewalls, routers and switches in a local data center.
• Strong expertise in AWS (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, Route53, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, Puppet and scripting languages (Bash, Python).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins mandatory, GitHub/GitLab CI/CD).
• Strong background in networking, DNS, VPNs, load balancers and CDNs.
• Experience in cybersecurity practices: OS hardening, penetration testing, IAM, DoS/DDoS mitigation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Knowledge of serverless architectures and API gateways.
• Experience with compliance frameworks (ISO, SOC2, GDPR, PCI-DSS).
• Certifications such as:
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
• HashiCorp Terraform Associate
• CISSP or Security+
