As we grow our operations and international sourcing network, we are looking to strengthen our logistics and procurement team with an experienced Import Specialist.

Job Summary:

The Import Specialist will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of international procurement and import logistics. This includes handling documentation, coordinating with suppliers and freight forwarders, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and managing timelines and costs associated with imported goods.

Key Responsibilities:

Import Operations & Coordination:

  • Manage and oversee the entire import process from order placement to final delivery.
  • Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to ensure timely shipments.
  • Track shipments and coordinate with relevant departments to manage inventory flow.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Prepare and verify import documentation, including invoices, packing lists, BLs, COO, and other shipping documents.
  • Ensure compliance with Pakistan Customs, import regulations, and company policies.
  • Apply for necessary import permits, SROs, and handle customs clearance formalities.

Cost & Vendor Management:

  • Monitor freight, duty, and clearance costs to ensure budget control.
  • Negotiate with logistics partners for better rates and service levels.
  • Maintain a database of overseas suppliers and shipping partners.

Internal Coordination & Reporting:

  • Coordinate with the procurement, finance, and warehouse teams for smooth inbound logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and prepare regular reports on shipment status, costs, and delays.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to shipments, quality, or documentation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in import operations or international trade.
  • Sound knowledge of import regulations, HS codes, customs documentation, and clearance procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the furniture or manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with LC (Letter of Credit), TT payments, and international procurement terms (Incoterms).
  • Working knowledge of port and customs processes in Pakistan.
