Job Description – IT Systems AdministratorPosition Summary

The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organisations IT infrastructure to ensure seamless operations across all facilities. This role will anchor the organisation's digital backbone—managing networks, servers, and specialist software systems—while ensuring data security, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Systems & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee local area networks (LAN), wireless networks, and secure high-speed internet connectivity across all facilities.

  • Manage cloud and on-premises servers, storage, and backup systems with disaster recovery planning.

  • Maintain and monitor internal systems to ensure uptime, performance, and availability.

Software & Licensing

  • Manage procurement, licensing, distribution, and compliance of all specialist software systems (AV, digital archiving, media labs, ticketing, etc.).

  • Ensure secure user access and role-based permissions across applications.

  • Monitor and update software systems to prevent obsolescence or security vulnerabilities.

Data Protection & Security

  • Develop and enforce IT security policies and protocols.

  • Implement firewalls, intrusion detection, and monitoring systems.

  • Ensure compliance with global best practices for data protection and GDPR-style standards.

Website & Digital Platforms

  • Support development, hosting, and maintenance of our website and public-facing digital platforms.

  • Manage email servers and internal communications systems.

  • Support integrated digital asset management systems for archives and media.

User Support & Training

  • Serve as first point of contact for IT support across departments.

  • Provide training and documentation for staff on systems usage, cyber-security, and digital best practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues promptly.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 4–6 years of experience in systems administration or IT management (non-profit or cultural sector experience is a plus).

  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google), and networking protocols.

  • Experience with AV, media, or digital archiving software preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage IT security, data protection, and compliance frameworks.

  • Problem-solving mindset, excellent communication skills, and ability to work across diverse teams.
