Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare and submit import/export customs declarations using Descartes e-Customs.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC (UK Customs) regulations and requirements.
  • Review shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, etc.) for accuracy.
  • Maintain updated records of declarations, duty/VAT payments, and related correspondence.
  • Communicate with freight forwarders, customs authorities, and internal teams regarding clearance status.
  • Monitor updates and changes in customs procedures and ensure adherence.
  • Resolve discrepancies or rejections in customs entries in a timely manner.
  • Provide reports on customs activity, errors, and compliance risks.
  • Assist the customs team with audits and compliance checks.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all customs data and business information.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Descartes e-Customs software (mandatory).
  • Strong knowledge of UK import/export procedures and HMRC compliance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in customs clearance/data entry.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written & verbal).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
