Senior 3D Artist

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior 3D Artist to lead our transformation into cutting-edge 3D eCommerce visualization. You'll be responsible for creating high-fidelity, optimized 3D models from product photographs across diverse categories including furniture, automotive parts, clothing, electronics, and soft goods. Your work will directly impact customer engagement and conversion rates through interactive 3D experiences and AR/VR applications.

Key Responsibilities

3D Asset Creation

• Create clean, optimized topology suitable for real-time rendering on web and mobile platforms

Develop 3D models across multiple product categories: furniture, auto parts, apparel, electronics, and soft goods

• Ensure models meet strict polygon count and file size requirements for eCommerce platforms
• Maintain consistent quality standards across entire product catalog
• Texturing & Material Development
• Create PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials using Adobe Substance 3D Painter
• Develop realistic surface details including fabric weaves, leather grain, metal finishes, and weathering
• Optimize texture resolutions for web delivery while maintaining visual quality
• Build reusable material libraries for common product finishes

Technical Optimization

• Export optimized assets in GLB/GLTF and USDZ formats for web and AR applications
• Implement Draco compression and KTX texture optimization
• Ensure models perform smoothly across desktop, mobile, and AR/VR platforms
• Conduct quality assurance testing on various devices and browsers

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills:

• 3+ years of professional 3D modeling experience, preferably in product visualization or eCommerce
• Expert proficiency in Blender or Autodesk 3ds Max
• Advanced skills in Adobe Substance 3D Painter and Adobe Photoshop for texturing
• Highly desirable: Knowledge of photogrammetry software (RealityCapture, Polycam, Meshroom, or similar)
• Expertise in retopology and creating optimized real-time models
• Proficient in UV mapping and texture baking workflows
• Deep understanding of PBR material creation and workflows
• Working knowledge of GLB/GLTF and USDZ file formats and optimization techniques

Desired Skills:

• Marvelous Designer for clothing and fabric simulation
• Hard surface modeling for automotive/electronics
• Furniture modeling with accurate joinery and materials
• Soft goods modeling (cushions, upholstery, textiles)

Essential Competencies:

• Strong understanding of eCommerce requirements and web optimization
• Attention to detail and ability to match reference materials precisely
• Excellent time management to handle multiple products simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Marvelous Designer for fabric/clothing simulation
• Knowledge of AR/VR development pipelines
• Familiarity with Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar eCommerce platforms
• Experience with 3D configurators and interactive product viewers
• Knowledge of ZBrush for high-detail sculpting

Portfolio Requirements

• Please submit a portfolio demonstrating:
• At least 5 product models created from photographs (before/after)
• Examples across multiple material types (fabric, metal, plastic, leather, wood)
• Web-optimized models with polygon counts and file sizes listed
• Texture work showing PBR material setup
• Examples of models in web viewers or AR applications (if available)
