About the Role
Merchantnetic is looking for a
Demand Generation Associate
who can
own our outbound pipeline
across email and Upwork. This is not a data-entry or scraping role — we need someone who knows how to
run full outreach campaigns
, write
winning Upwork proposals
, and generate
qualified conversations
that fuel sales.
You'll be the pioneer for our demand gen engine: experimenting, iterating, and making sure we're not waiting on leads but creating them.
Core Responsibilities
- Email Outreach Campaigns
- Build targeted lists (using Apollo, Sales Navigator, etc.).
- Write & send cold email sequences with personalization and follow-ups.
- Track open, reply, and conversion rates — optimize campaigns to improve performance.
- Upwork & Freelance Platforms
- Actively scan Upwork/Fiverr for relevant projects.
- Write custom proposals that address client pain points (no copy-paste).
- Follow up with prospects and convert proposals into calls or deals.
- Multi-Channel Prospecting
- Use LinkedIn outreach (connection notes, follow-ups, engagement) to warm up leads.
- Test new channels (RFP sites, niche job boards, LinkedIn groups) to expand pipeline sources.
- Ownership & Reporting
- Run campaigns independently — not waiting for scripts or templates.
- Report weekly on leads generated, responses, and opportunities created.
- Suggest improvements in outreach strategy and experiment with messaging.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven hands-on experience
in running
cold email campaigns
(not just scraping lists). - Strong
Upwork bidding record
— knows how to write tailored, client-focused proposals that win. - Familiarity with tools like
Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Instantly/Smartlead, Hunter, Skrapp
. - Experience in
list building + email validation
. - Good written English for professional proposals and outreach.
- Knows how to
track KPIs
(open rates, replies, conversion to meetings). - Self-starter: can design and execute campaigns without micromanagement.
Nice to Have (Bonus)
- Experience in
staff augmentation or long-term retainers
(not just one-off projects). - Familiarity with
partnership development
(agency collaborations, outsourcing deals). - Exposure to managing
multiple Upwork profiles
or scaling account visibility.
