ob Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise in SQL Server 2017 and exposure to ClickHouse for real-time analytics workloads. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of mission-critical database systems across OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) environments.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or MCSA: SQL Server 2016/2017 Database Administration is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications in Big Data/Cloud Platforms or ClickHouse are an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience as a SQL Server DBA, with at least 3 years on SQL Server 2017 in enterprise-scale, high-transaction environments.
  • Hands-on experience managing large transactional and reporting databases.
  • 1+ year experience working with ClickHouse in analytical/reporting workloads, preferably in hybrid OLAP/OLTP ecosystems.

Core Technical Skills:

SQL Server 2017 Expertise

  • Installation, configuration, patching, and service pack upgrades
  • High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR):
  • Always On Availability Groups (AOAG)
  • Log Shipping, Replication, Database Mirroring
  • In depth knowledge and hands-on experience of AOAG
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization:
  • Index design, statistics, query plan analysis
  • Extended Events, Query Store, SQL Profiler, DMVs
  • Maintenance Automation:
  • SQL Server Agent, PowerShell scripting, automation frameworks
  • Backup & Recovery Management:
  • Full, Differential, Transaction Log backups, offsite retention planning
  • Security and access control (encryption, TDE, server roles, row-level security)

ClickHouse Expertise

  • Installation, configuration, and cluster deployment of ClickHouse
  • Data ingestion pipelines using Kafka, S3, or JDBC connectors
  • Designing and managing Materialized Views, MergeTree, and AggregatingMergeTree tables
  • Query performance optimization for analytical reporting
  • Integration with external tools (e.g., Grafana, Metabase, custom SPs)
  • Understanding of columnar database architecture, partitioning, and replication

Additional Technical Exposure (Nice to Have):

  • Working knowledge of CDC (Change Data Capture) in SQL Server
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Debezium, or real-time streaming frameworks
  • Experience in data archiving, ETL processes, and data warehouse optimization
  • Monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Redgate, or Zabbix
  • Familiarity with cloud database deployments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or GCP Cloud SQL)

  • Effective communication with cross-functional teams (Dev, QA, Infra)

Responsibilities:

  • Manage production and non-production SQL Server and ClickHouse instances
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize stored procedures, views, and queries
  • Support data migration, schema versioning, and deployment pipelines
  • Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and audit requirements
  • Lead or assist in capacity planning, license management, and infrastructure scaling
