Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in building and delivering enterprise-grade microservices for an on-site role in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia. The ideal candidate will have successfully delivered at least three end-to-end microservices-based projects and possesses deep technical knowledge in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and modern database technologies. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing backend services that power scalable, secure, and high-performance applications deployed on Kubernetes/OpenShift.

Key Responsibilities

● Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot.

● Build and optimize event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.

● Work with multiple data stores, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and Redis, ensuring high performance and reliability.

● Implement best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and API design.

● Collaborate with frontend developers, architects, DevOps engineers, and product managers to deliver business-critical solutions.

● Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and support integration with third-party systems.

● Deploy, monitor, and scale applications on Kubernetes (K8s) and containerized environments.

● Integrate with observability tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).

● Ensure system security, performance optimization, and high availability.

● Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to junior developers.

● Contribute to architectural decisions and technology roadmaps.

Required Skills & Qualifications

● 7+ years of professional backend development experience.

● Strong proficiency in Java (Java 11/17/21) and Spring Boot.

● Proven track record of delivering at least 3 production-grade microservices projects.

● Expertise in event-driven architecture and Apache Kafka.

● Hands-on experience with databases: PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis etc

● Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.

● Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, API versioning, and API security (OAuth2/JWT).

● Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing frameworks.

● Familiarity with distributed systems, caching strategies, and performance tuning.

● Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

● Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

● Should already be / able to relocate to Riyadh, Saudia Arabia for the duration of the job.
