Job Overview:

We are seeking a Field Network Engineer to assist with the onsite installation, testing, and configuration support of Cisco networking equipment. The candidate will work closely with a remote technical team to ensure smooth device setup, firmware upgrades, and final deployment of network infrastructure.

This role requires hands-on technical skills, excellent coordination, and attention to detail during physical installation and network testing activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Power-On Self-Test (POST) on all network devices.
  • Provide console access to the remote team for firmware upgrade and configuration of Cisco routers and switches.
  • Rack mount and install Cisco C9300 Switch and Cisco C1121X-8P Router in the server rack.
  • Properly label all cables connected to existing and new switches (including router and ISP connections).
  • Share progress artifacts (photos and logs) before and after each task with the remote team.
  • Upon remote team confirmation, migrate all interfaces and uplinks to the new devices.
  • Ensure neat cable management using Velcro or cable ties after completion.
  • Maintain clear communication with the remote team during all stages of the deployment.

Tools & Equipment Required:

  • Latest Laptop with Windows 10/11 (with built-in LAN port or USB-to-LAN adapter)
  • 32GB USB drive (FAT32 formatted)
  • PuTTY (installed)
  • Webex / Microsoft Teams (for screen sharing and remote access tests)
  • Proper sound drivers, working mic, and speakers
  • Mobile phone with camera (for photo sharing)
  • Power extension (multi-plug type preferred)
  • Cage nuts (for minimum 5–6 devices)
  • Console cables:
  • RJ45 to USB
  • USB-A to Micro-USB Type-B
  • USB Type-C
  • Label printer (with extra label tape)
  • Screwdriver kit / basic toolkit
  • Velcro ties or cable management accessories
  • Network cable tester (if available)
  • Portable hotspot or data SIM for backup internet connectivity

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in IT, Networking, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of Cisco network devices (routers/switches).
  • Experience with console connections and basic configuration.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow remote team instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to neat and organized installations.
