Position Overview

The Collections Manager oversees and directs the organization's credit and collections operations. This role ensures the timely collection of accounts receivable, maintains accurate records, manages collection staff, and develops strategies to reduce delinquencies and bad debt. Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills are essential to ensure efficient cash flow and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the collections department and staff.
  • Develop and implement policies to improve efficiency and reduce bad debt.
  • Monitor accounts and initiate collection actions.
  • Analyze aging reports and prepare forecasts and status reports.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with clients.
  • Collaborate with sales, finance, and legal teams to resolve disputes and escalate delinquent accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with debt collection laws (e.g., FDCPA).
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate collection team members.
  • Recommend accounts for write-off or legal action.
  • Track and report KPIs related to collections and credit risk.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3–5 years in collections or credit management, with 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of collection laws and regulations.
  • High attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with industry-specific tools like SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks.
  • Certification in credit or collections management (e.g., ACA, IACC).
  • Bilingual abilities based on customer base.
