Introduction:
The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute offering comprehensive medical services. It includes a tertiary care hospital in Karachi, a network of secondary care hospitals, medical centers, clinical laboratories, pharmacies across Pakistan, and home healthcare services. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP), reflecting its commitment to high-quality, patient safety, and excellence in healthcare.
Job Role / Responsibilities:
- Conduct reviews of medical records for ambulatory and inpatient care, ensuring documentation compliance with JCIA standards and hospital policies.
- Identify gaps in medical documentation, analyze findings, and communicate improvements to relevant stakeholders. Prepare and share reports on reviews.
- Participate in departmental Quality Improvement Committees (QIC) as a representative and assist as needed.
- Coordinate and analyze institutional dashboard indicators, including JCIA measures, clinical and managerial metrics, and patient safety goals.
- Validate data for dashboard indicators quarterly based on institutional criteria.
- Compile audit reports for departments and share findings with department chairs, QIRs, and nurse managers.
- Assist in reviewing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current literature and JCIA standards.
- Conduct quality and patient safety audits and spot checks, including IPGs, Code Blue, Tracers, and Crash Carts, guided by senior management.
- Identify areas for improvement and initiate quality improvement or research projects.
- Perform rounds, spot checks, and audits to monitor staff compliance with policies and standards.
- Participate in internal surveys and mock audits, sharing observations with management.
- Support hospital leadership in other accreditation processes such as SafeCare, Magnet, CAP, etc.
- Facilitate monitoring and compilation of institutional KPIs and scorecards.
- Assist departments with queries related to scorecards and CUSP initiatives to ensure findings are addressed.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) meetings, follow up on actions, and coordinate patient safety culture surveys to foster improvements.
- Support the quarterly publication of the QPSD newsletter.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
- Graduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field; Master's preferred.
- Professional certification in a relevant area is advantageous.
- At least 2 years of postgraduate healthcare experience, preferably in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in data management and analysis tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills to break down issues and synthesize information.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively.
