Aga Khan University (AKU), a private, self-governing international university chartered in Pakistan in 1983, is a role model for academic, research and service programs in health and higher education in the developing world. The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom and Afghanistan, and is a major component of Aga Khan Development Network.

The Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health aims to support the introduction, scale-up and further piloting of high quality and high impact interventions to improve Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) in Pakistan by harnessing the potential of both public and private sectors, coupled with introduction of women and girls empowerment intervention. UeN has two major components; one is to introduce proven effective MNCAH interventions at scale in 14 districts and the second is to generate evidence through innovative approaches to improve MNCAH while included in the public health programme in Pakistan. Of the five innovation projects, one aims to measure the Men Engagement in Women Empowerment (MEWE) through Life Skills Building (LSB) and cash transfer to improve maternal mental health in Pakistan.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the grant-funded contractual position of Driver in the Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Transports staff / patients and goods / office supplies / laboratory specimens. 
  • Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, transportation forms / log book, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management. 
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required.
  • Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions. 
  • Responds immediately to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers, and rendering First Aid until emergency personnel arrive.
  • Safely carry goods, office supplies, medicines etc. and place at assigned locations during transportation. 
  • Perform special duty in driving international guests from donor agencies as per direction(s) from management. 
  • Carry out daily inspections of vehicles ensuring cleanliness inside and out. 
  • Maintaining daily record on the transportation log-book / sheet.
  • Any other task / duty as assigned by the management. 
Requirements

You should have:

  • Current, valid driving license
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Courteous and polite nature 
  • Self-motivation 
  • Strong commitment to the aims & objectives of the service 
  • Honesty, reliability and trustworthiness
