The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom, and Afghanistan, and is a major component of Aga Khan Development Network.
The Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health aims to support the introduction, scale-up, and further piloting of high-quality and high-impact interventions to improve Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) in Pakistan by harnessing the potential of both public and private sectors, coupled with the introduction of women and girls empowerment intervention. UeN has two major components; one is to introduce proven effective MNCAH interventions at scale in 14 districts and the second is to generate evidence through innovative approaches to improve MNCAH while included in the public health program in Pakistan. Of the five innovation projects, one aims to measure the Men Engagement in Women Empowerment (MEWE) through Life Skills Building (LSB) and cash transfer to improve maternal mental health in Pakistan.
The Aga Khan University invites applications for the grant-funded contractual position of Glass washer in the Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health
Responsibilities- Use the proper cleaning supplies and tools to clean laboratory glassware, such as test tubes, beakers, flasks, and pipettes
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for research activities, clean laboratory work surfaces and equipment regularly
- Help keep track of consumables, chemicals, and glassware among other laboratory supplies. Let the supervisor know when more materials are needed
- Following established protocols and safety recommendations, dispose of laboratory waste items, old glassware, and chemical waste
- Assist laboratory personnel with tasks such as kit preparation, sample transportation, and shipment setup as needed
- To reduce the possibility of mishaps or injuries, always follow safety protocols and instructions in the laboratory
- Keep thorough records of all glassware cleaning operations and inventory transactions as needed
- Oversee general housekeeping stuff, like mopping floors, emptying garbage cans, and keeping the laboratory's common spaces tidy
- Matriculation or intermediate qualification
- Prior experience in laboratory support roles is preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of cleanliness and safety procedures in laboratories
- The capacity to follow instructions and maintain normal operating procedures
- Strong focus on details and dedication to upholding neatness and order
- Physical endurance is the capacity to carry out tasks involving a modest amount of physical effort
- Proficiency in communicating and a readiness to collaborate with others in a group
